Honoring the efforts of Wilderness Trace Child Development Center

Wilderness Trace Child Development Center

Volunteer Service Grant Amount Awarded: $36,940

Thanks to Beauticontrol Consultant Donna Rulon’s volunteer efforts—and grant application—this worthy non-profit has received much needed support in order to continue providing inclusive early education to children with diverse abilities, helping them reach their full potential.

Infants to five-year-olds who have autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, hearing and visual impairments, and other developmental challenges receive therapy to create basic skills such as swallowing, standing and speaking.

Seeing the need for support, Donna Rulon—Beauticontrol Independent Director and Wilderness Trace volunteer—applied for the the Volunteer Service Grant on behalf of the organization.

“It’s comforting to have organizations like Wilderness Trace Child Development Center in our community. They offer critical services for young children and I’m inspired by their commitment and honored to do a tiny part to assist them with their wonderful mission.”

The Volunteer Service Grant will fund the purchase of:
          - Prose (speak with mental commands) Education System for 10 children with autism and cerebral palsy
          - 5 iPads to implement the Prose Education System
          - Tobii Dynavox EyeMobile Mini, featuring Microsoft Surface Pro 4, to navigate the online world with eye movement
          - Scholarships for 12 children with severe developmental delays

Libby Suttles, Executive Director of the center, expressed extreme gratitude for the grant. “We are grateful to the W.H.O. Foundation and Beauticontrol Consultants for empowering early learning and therapy for children with diverse abilities. Receiving this grant will enable children to develop skills to cope with developmental delays, physical disabilities and serious illness.”
