Honoring the volunteer efforts of Sue Pasko at Southside Center for Violence Prevention
Volunteer Service Grant Amount Awarded: $12.000
Since 1999, Southside Center for Violence Prevention in Blackstone, VA has provided immediate help and safe haven to victims of domestic and sexual violence. They have empowered these individuals to become survivors and have assisted them in regaining control of their lives.
In 2013, after learning of this organization, Sue Pasko decided to help by providing Spas to the residents. To gain permission, she approached the administration and offered to treat the staff to a Spa first. They were so impressed with Sue’s ability to relate to people that they granted her access to the residents and has since been providing monthly Spas and Makeover Sessions.
There are no words to fully express my gratitude to the W.H.O. Foundation. This award will help the Center to continue to support the needs of these unfortunate people and help them get back on their feet.
